Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, DC, October 11, 2011- iYAGO Entertainment Group, the innovator in documentary social activism and outreach media, announces the Theatrical Premiere and World release of the film “Dear Daddy” in Washington DC, October 27th at The Historic Avalon Theatre.

“Dear Daddy”, a new documentary, highlights the perseverance, pain and plight of twenty-three Washington, D.C. area teenage girls and young women. “Dear Daddy” boldly addresses in raw and revelatory fashion the unwarranted and devastating impact of fatherlessness on their adolescent and young-adult lives. “Dear Daddy” is a continuation of the dialogue around the effects of father absence on women, initiated by iYAGO Entertainment’s 2010 Black Box Office Documentary of the Year “We Need To Talk.” In the emotionally charged “Dear Daddy”, Producer Janks Morton uncovers that a reflective look at a lifetime of choices as in “We Need To Talk” is not necessary to understand that women, regardless of age or experience, are struggling with the consequences of father absence, abandonment, estrangement and death. Whatever the circumstance, the result of father-related void-vacancy issues has lead many women to compartmentalize their thoughts, dismiss their emotions and negate their own understanding of the importance of fathers in their lives. The convergence of a lifetime of unreconciled experience and a debilitating suffocation of expression, has too often left women unable to even construct the language necessary to articulate themselves about this issue.

'Dear Daddy' will be showcased to over 500 attendees and media at The Historic Avalon Theatre, in Washington, DC at 8:00pm, Thursday October 27th. In addition and part of iYAGO Entertainment’s Outreach Media commitment, “Dear Daddy” will be supported online by a new Support Network and Resource Center at

"After a focus group screening of “Dear Daddy” to nearly 300 college aged women, 90% of whom had lived in a home without their fathers, I understood that a secondary resource and centralized repository for research, articles, books and discussion boards was needed to support the women who have finally been given license to explore the complexities of their emotions surrounding father absence," said Filmmaker Janks Morton. "In opening this discourse, I wanted to relay the message that while this film can empower women to express themselves openly about their personal struggles…the process of healing, reconciliation and forgiveness is a continuous walk and requires additional time and resources outside the boundaries of this film."

"We could not be more excited to host the Washington premiere of 'Dear Daddy'", said Andrew Mencher, Director of Programming at the Avalon Theatre. He continued, 'Dear Daddy' should cause everyone to take another look at this under-reported and seldom addressed issue"

Janks Morton, the Director and Filmmaker will be at the Premiere, and immediately available for a one-hour community-based discussion about the film and support resources. Media interviews are available around the Premiere and future screenings. For additional information please direct inquiries to or via cell (860) 997-6802.
