Florida Title Company Owner Will Present at the Annual ALTA Convention

Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- For the second consecutive year, Chris Black, attorney and owner of Florida title company, Winged Foot Title, LLC, will present at the Annual Convention of the American Land Title Association® (ALTA). ALTA is celebrating its 104th Annual Convention on October 12-15, in the historic district of Charleston, South Carolina. The convention will be attended by title insurance companies, abstracters, and title agents who come together for networking and comprehensive, accredited educational programs. The programs will be focused on best practices, business development, government regulations and technology trends.

Last year, Black presented in San Diego (http://www.wingedfoottitle.com/news/florida-title-insurance-agent-to-present-at-national-american-land-title-association-annual-convention-in-san-diego-october-13-16/) on “Title Agency Growth through Successful Short Sale Orchestration”. This year, in Charleston, he will be joining representatives from the Department of Treasury, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in a panel discussion on the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives (HAFA) program. The panel has been designed to familiarize title insurance agents with the Treasury program so that they may more adeptly influence the short sale process.

“This panel discussion will be invaluable to the title insurance folks in attendance to hear from a voice that comes from the short sale trenches," said Chris Black. "We all agree that the HAFA guidelines are great; but when I talk to real estate professionals and consumers, it is clear that there is a disconnect between the guidelines and their implementation by the various servicers. This has caused a myriad of issues which I will discuss with our audience so that they can anticipate and deal with them more effectively when they return to their businesses.”

For his part, Black is looking forward to the convention on a number of fronts.

“I am excited to reconnect with the wonderful people I’ve met at ALTA meetings over the last two years," said Black. "It has been incredibly valuable for our business to glean from what others are doing throughout the country. Many of our successes can be attributed to our recent activity in ALTA.”

ALTA (http://www.alta.org/meetings/annual/index.cfm) is considered the national trade association and the voice of the abstract and title insurance industry. ALTA members are able to search, review, and insure land titles in order to protect home buyers and mortgage lenders who invest in real estate. The members of ALTA range from small, single-county operations to large title insurance underwriters, operating across the nation.
