WV Artist Signs Painting with Embedded Hair

Oct. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- New Cumberland, WV  – The hair you see in an original painting from swartzmiller.com, isn’t because of cheap paint brushes.  Local WV artist, Mike Swartzmiller, personalizes each of his paintings with a unique signature contains his own hair.  His hair is incorporated in each painting, directly under the signature.  The hair, although somewhat visible, is added for the purpose of identification coding only and has no aesthetic or intrinsic value.  

An original Swartzmiller will be easy to identify, authenticate, and impossible to forge.Artist Swartzmiller, who cuts his own hair, said “ I was thinking of a way to guarantee the originality of my paintings and the hair in the sink gave me the answer one day.”   He further stated, “I was thinking about the vast number of Picasso forgeries, some sort of DNA coding and Van Gogh’s ear, but thought better that hair was the painless 21st  century solution.”

A visit to the website’s  online gallery is an enjoyable viewing pleasure of paintings inspired by the love of red wine,  the neighbor’s mangled cat or “pop on the canvas” portraits of very inimitable, unique people.  All paintings are original, come with a certificate of authenticity and with a “hair-coded” signature on the front and signed / dated on the back.
