US event organisers have now confirmed that they are looking into potential venues in the capital. They released a statement saying "Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the Savage Beauty exhibition. We have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now however nothing has been finalised. Please be assured that an official announcement will be made the moment we confirm our plans for London."
Savage Beauty was the 8th most popular exhibit in the New York Met Museum's 140-year history, with over 650,000 visitors. Since the launch of the retrospective the great and the good of fashion have been campaigning to bring the exhibition to where they believe is its true home: London.
It seems that Alexander McQueen is continuing to make waves almost 18 months after his death. The designer, who broke all the rules of the fashion world, yet won the hearts of it's harshest critics, has been the subject of a petition gaining thousands of signatures to bring his retrospective back to his hometown London.
