Oct. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- The designer Sarah Burton showed her latest collection for Alexander McQueen at Paris Fashion Week. Alexander McQueen is well known for amazing extravagant creations. Sarah Burton latest collection was inspired by “the three Gs: Grès for the pleating and draping, Gaudí for the architecture, Gaia for the oceanic infused shells and coral in her garments.

Sarah Burton has worked with the late designer for over 15 years and her latest collection not only shows Sarah’s amazing talent also the connection with Alexander McQueen’s vision and soul. Carrying on the McQueen legacy, the beautiful collection manages to make a lot of waves on Paris’s runway.

At  the beginning Sarah Burton joined McQueen as his personal assistant. Burton was appointed Head of Womenswear in 2000, during which time she created dresses for Michelle Obama, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga and Gwyneth Paltrow. Following McQueen’s death in February 2010, and after company owner Gucci confirmed that the brand would continue, Burton was named as the new creative director of Alexander McQueen in May 2010. In September 2010, Burton presented the first McQueen womenswear collection she had wholly created in Paris.Burton’s work also made attention in 2011 when she designed the wedding dress for Kate Middleton.


For her third solo collection for Alexander McQueen, the obsessive detailing was as powerful as ever. Breathtaking and haunting gothic-inspired ivory satin and lace affair with a 2.7 metre-long train garnered raves and focused an international spotlight on Burton and the Alexander McQueen line. Burton's underwater fantasy was the show's highlight, with models transformed into mermaid warriors. Using abalone shells in one gown, and coral in another, she created intricate, armour-like corseted torsos, with soft chiffon billowing beneath to the floor.
