Do you think you’re Fashion Fit?

Colour Psychology is the term given to the emotions a human being feels when they are looking at a specific colour

Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- We live in an increasingly competitive market when it comes to all aspects of life today, whether it’s a job interview, buying a new home, or even dating, what we wear can seriously affect the way we feel, and more importantly, it can affect the way others feel about us. A study in America showed that when meeting someone for the first time it generally takes that person 4 seconds to form an opinion of you. Industry experts such as Darrell Fincher and Style guru Clinton Kelly agree with this and highlight the fact that what you wear is an important tool in conveying your message to the rest of the world and this applies to the world of fitness also.

It all comes down to colour- the colour of the clothes you wear. Colour Psychology is the term given to the emotions a human being feels when they are looking at a specific colour. These principles can be directly attributed to the clothes you wear. For example, black is the colour of power and authority, whereas red is the most emotionally intense colour. There have even been studies to show that weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms, because, scientifically, people are more productive in blue rooms. Similarly if we look at the dynamics of a workout, say with a Personal Trainer and their client, having the client train on orange or yellow mats encourages energy, courage and happiness which can lead to a much more productive workout; Whereas the PT would demonstrate on a black mat to differentiate the roles and relationship between them but also to project authority and strength.

If we apply the principles discussed about that 4 second rule, and think about that in terms of what motivates us when we work out, when clients walk into your gym what do you think they’re thinking about? Perhaps it has nothing to do with the gym itself, perhaps they’re just thinking about how quickly they can get their workout over with so that they can go home and do something else. But imagine how much better it would feel if they were to walk into your gym and feel inspired, energised, excited about working out and determined to give 100% to their time in the gym. All of this can be achieved by ensuring that your gym is offering a complete solution that ensures both a productive and challenging workout to your clientele by Ree-inventing your space. To do this you need solutions in the following areas:

•   Equipment- Integrate colourful functional and versatile equipment to keep members interested.
•   Stimulating Space Design- Members react to their surroundings, motivate them and stimulate their senses.
•   Education and training advice – Give them a quick five minute demonstration of something new you’ve learnt.

At Escape Fitness we offer all clients a full design and colour advice service that means you can make the most of the space you have. Our industry experts understand the principles of space layout and re-energising facilities, so that you don’t have to. At Escape, we want to help you transform the way your members exercise so why not come and have a chat with us at our LIW stand this year? We’re stand number H250!
