Compensation Awarded to Military Families Bothered by Mold in Military Housing

Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Both Garcia and Aguilar families received a compensation of $18500 and $13000 for the damages on their furniture due to mold. The military families were moved to other housing units. Island Palm Communities is the developer of the housing and 100 other families are complaining of extensive mold infestation in their homes which is also developed by Island Palms.

The developer has no statement yet but it is expected that the infested housing will be renovated and other families will also be transferred.

"HONOLULU (AP) — Two military families say they've been compensated for damaged furniture and moved to new housing because of mold problems in their military homes in Aliamanu."

"Raquel Garcia, whose husband is a staff sergeant in the Army, told the Star Advertiser  that Island Palm Communities, the partnership between Lend Lease and the Army managing the Aliamanu homes, paid her $18,500 for damage to furniture caused by the mold in a duplex she lived in."

"Nicole Aguilar, who lived in the other half of the duplex, said her home also had extensive mold problems."
