Oct. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Numismatics is the study or collection of coins, paper money, medals, and tokens. People all over the world have taken an interest in numismatics. For Joel S . Mikelionis is all began when he was five years old. Just like any other little boy, he was curious as he began noticing the dates and mintmarks on coins. As he got older he was given folders to store some of his coins in. It wasn’t much later that he e=was hitting the coin shops with his father trying to find that one (or two) special coin. Joel was encouraged by his parents to keep on with his fascinating new hobby ands eventually he had a whole series of coins. His love for coins continued through out the years and what began as curiosity became a thirty year love affair with rare and unique coins. Joel S. Mikelionis welcomes you to his new blog-site http://www.goldcoincollectorz.com/. You are about to enter the world of coin collecting as seen through Joel S. Mikelionis’s eyes. Another interesting coin is the United Sates Bicentennial Coin. In preparation of the 1976 celebration of our nations 200th birthday the United d=sates was gearing up for some coin changes. They talked about re-designing all six coins that were in circulation at the time, but decided on three. Present Nixon signed a bill approving the re-design of the reverse side of three coins: quarter, half-dollar, and dollar coins. These coins also showed  the dual date of “1776 – 1976″. Interested in collecting quarters for each of the 50 states? In 1999 Bill Clinton authorized the “50 State Commemorative Coin Program Act on 01-December-1997”. Five different designs were produced and issued each year from 1999 through 2008 with each state being commemorated in the order in which they entered the Union as a state. If you looked on the reverse side of ach quarter you would see a different design for each state. If you are just starting out as a coin collector this will be a great addition to your coin collection.  For more information on the US Mint 50 Sate Quarters Program log on to: http://www.goldcoincollectorz.com/the-50-state-quarters-program-from-the-u-s-mint/.  Join Joel S.
