Oct. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- - NEW YORK - A partner, sibling, parent, child or friend. You may already know someone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. While a cure has yet to be found, efforts to raise funds and awareness about the disease are on-going.

BnBFinder inns are thinking pink this October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From fundraising campaigns and donations to weekend getaways and discounts, these inns are getting behind the cause in a big way this month and beyond:

The Captain Lord Mansion, Kennebunkport, ME. The Lois Ann Fincher Memorial “Double Dime for Time” Campaign has raised thousands of dollars to benefit the American Cancer Society. Named for Innkeeper Bev’s sister, Lois Ann, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2003, the inn pledges two dimes for each guest stay from January 1 – October 31; for returning guests they’ll multiply the number of their visits by the double dimes. Select survivors, chosen from email submissions, will be brought together for a complimentary 2-night stay at the campaign’s end.

The Inn at the Park Bed and Breakfast, South Haven, MI. For almost 5 years, every March and November, the innkeepers donate the use of the entire inn for a 3-day workshop in partnership with Sisters Hope, a nonprofit organization that sets up retreats for breast cancer survivors. Healthy meals, massages and other spa treatments, yoga, and group discussions on diet and nutrition are offered over the weekend. Survivors are encouraged to share their stories, sometimes for the first time, in a safe and supportive environment.

The Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast, Flagstaff, AZ. The inn welcomes survivors and their families to the inn and will provide a minimum of 25% off their rate year-round for their visit. Innkeepers Richard and Michael are open to working on a larger discount depending on the needs of the family.
