2011 Denver Press Club Gridiron Show Set for October 21
Gov. John Hickenlooper, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and CBS4 news anchor Jim Benemann will be among those appearing at the Denver Press Club’s (DPC) annual hilarious show of political and culture satire, the Gridiron Show
The Gridiron show is a showcase of local performers, journalists, politicians and Denver Press Club members, who present a hilarious skewering of local and national political and cultural happenings – mostly in song, plus a fake newscast. The original performance was held in 1946, and its current run has been an annual occurrence since 2000 (except 2001).
Following is a partial list of who you'll see on stage this year: Gov. Hickenlooper and his Gridiron Band (Tom Clark, Neil Westergaard, Andrew Hudson and more performing one satirical song), guest introducers Mayor Hancock and Jim Benemann, master of ceremonies Fred Brown, KMGH-TV's Mike Landess, Rocky Mountain PBS' Cynthia Hessin, the Denver Business Journal's Bruce Goldberg, the Aurora Daily Sentinel's Adam Goldstein, former Denver City Council President Rosemary Rodriguez, Edie Sonn, Ruth Darling-Goldberg, Steve Koenigsberg, Robert Thompson, Tom Corona and more.
