Follow on Google News | Cambridge Online encourages local companies to benefit from international work experience placementsGerman student teacher Nils Wessels joins Cambridge Online on a work experience placement to improve language skills and gain insight into UK business
By: Simon Bennett, Agility PR Ltd Nils approached Ray Olds, CEO of Cambridge Online, through a mutual contact and Ray invited Nils to work helping out in the business’s marketing department. Nils will work with Cambridge Online for at least six months, getting to grips with how the business works and understanding the role of marketing within the company. Cambridge Online has also recently taken on an apprentice from Cambridge Regional College as the business focuses on nurturing talent with programmes in place to develop from within as well as bringing in new talent. Nils started with Cambridge Online in August and is enjoying both working and the social life that Cambridge offers. His first impression of Cambridge Online is of a focused, driven company, but also a very open, supportive work culture. Nils Wessels comments: “I want to thank Cambridge Online for this opportunity and all the support they have offered. I am learning a great deal about business and also British society, everyone is very friendly, open and approachable. Cambridge reminds me of Münster with its mix of old and new areas. My English is improving greatly; only through living in the UK can you really understand the language and culture. I hope more businesses are open to taking students from overseas as both parties can benefit from each other.” Ray Olds, chief executive officer, Cambridge Online, commented: “We thank Nils for the positive contribution he is making to our business. Welcoming new people such as Nils with different ideas, culture and perspectives brings so much to a business and obviously opens doors and builds new skills for all. We all know that the economic situation is restrictive, but as businesses we all need to help people get their first break through apprentice schemes, or do what we can to assist. There is plenty of help and assistance to get these kind of arrangements in place, and I would thoroughly recommend all local businesses explore the opportunities to bring in students and trainees from the UK and overseas.” -Ends- Notes to Editors Pictures of Nils Wessels are available from Agility PR – contact details below.
