Soft Face of the Titleist 907 D1 Driver

Sept. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- I was playing with a D2 and was very impressed with the driver. It helped me a lot with my hook. After a couple of months I decided I wanted to try the 907 D1 driver and see what ball flight I can get. I find that I really like the D1 also. My D1 has a little lower ball flight compare to the D2. They are both 9.5 degrees. The D1 is a little softer in the face and sounds a bit different.

First use was at an indoor range/dome. Like others have stated, it took a few swings to get the alignment dialed in. Contact was solid feeling on mis hits and on the sweet spot. Once I made a few adjustments after a couple poor swings I was drilling it straight as an arrow into the back wall, some with a bit of a draw on them as well.

The 907D1 driver stretches the clubhead size boundaries to the maximum allowable limits established by the USGA in an attempt to increase the MOI, or forgiveness, of the driver. For the better players who tend to over-work their shots, it works beautifully. The 907D1 is not going to cure your 30-yard slice - it's still built for the "serious players" and lower handicappers - but it's virtually impossible to over-work a shot with the D1.

The Titleist 907 D1 is a 460cc multi-material golfing driver with a titanium-face insert. It is designed with a triangular-shaped club face that is designed to offer a high moment of inertia. The high MOI makes the club more forgiving while increasing distance. The crown of the club has a dark finish; and its standard length is 45 inches. The D1 is available in lofts of 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5; and the stock shafts available for this driver are the Aldila VS Proto 65 and Titleist Diamana Blue 65.

I feel like the Titleist 907D1 Driver is a quality Wholesale Golf Equipment put out there by a company that has an impeccable reputation in the world of golf. Even though I don't work the ball, the way the ball reacted on my missed shots instinctively told me that the low to mid handicapper could work the ball with this driver. Unfortunately, as a 16 handicapper, workability isn't an issue with me--I prefer a driver that I can hit straight consistently with no loss in distance on off center shots.

The shaft of this particular driver is slightly heavier than most, obviously making it a little heavier but also a bit sturdier in you hands.
