Follow on Google News | New Athlete Training Academy Training Facility Attracts Athletes From All Over the CountryNot only have local athletes converged on the new Barry Lovelace Athlete Training Academy in Catasauqua, Pa, but athletes as far away as Texas and Ohio have come to change their game.
By: Barry Lovelace The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Barry Lovelace Athlete Training Academy on June 31, 2011 with Catasauqua included Mayor Barb Schlegal as well as many current and past clients who came to support and congratulate Lovelace. “It means so much to me to see so many people here tonight offering congratulations and well wishes for the future of the Academy. Absolutely a surreal night for me” says Barry Lovelace, owner of the Academy. The academy is where these same parents, athletes and coaches, looking for safe and effective training, are flocking. They come from within a 50-mile radius of the Lehigh Valley and as far away as Texas and Ohio. At this one of a kind, 3,000 square foot carpeted facility, uses only bands, balls, body-weight and many other non-traditional pieces of equipment making athletes and parents feel comfortable. Upon entering the doors of the academy, you feel welcomed into a comfortable lobby designed by Lovelace himself, where parents relax in comfort while their kids’ workout. They can choose to watch the training or opt to read their favorite book or a magazine provided by the academy. As you move beyond the lobby, you enter the training area where all the action takes place. Ropes and bands hang along the walls. Steel pipes adorn many of the walls and are used to anchor the bands for training. Medicine balls, kettle bells, weighted bags and other ‘toys’ fill the area along one wall. What you won’t see is any weight lifting machinery or any traditional gym equipment at all. Lovelace is known for thinking outside the box when it comes to creating highly effective, creative exercises for his athletes without the use of weight training equipment. “The goal is for athletes and parents to feel comfortable when they arrive and train here. There is so much stress in the life of teenagers and the last thing they need is to go through their tough days of school, practice etc and come to train in an intimidating environment. The academy is all about them and their goals. We talk, we train and we have fun all at the same time. Respect, Results and Rewards is painted on the wall here. The athletes give 100% and they are anxious to come back. As a sports performance trainer I cannot ask for more,” says Lovelace.
