As we approach the autumn and winter months, the Health & Safety North event is an excellent opportunity to stand back and consider what Health & Safety policies and procedures you have in place, and what staff training may be required.

Some things to consider are;

Induction – Have your employees had a health & safety brief? What to do in the event of a fire? What are their responsibilities?

DSE - Did your employees get a proper assessment of their desk? Is the screen the correct height? Is the chair set correctly?

Manual Handling – Do your staff members lift loads? Have they been correctly trained? Do they know the risks?

Risk Assessment - Are there any hazards in the working area? Are your staff, or any visiting members of the public, currently at risk? What about slips and trips?

Fire Evacuation - Do your staff know the evacuation plan and meeting points? Are they trained to use equipment such as Evacuation Chairs and Slider Mattresses?
