The Blissful Wishes Ball Shines Once Again

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- HOUSTON, TEXAS –A night filled with wonderful music and a funky photobooth from DJU Productions, delicious gourmet food from the finest chefs at the Westin Galleria Hotel, sweet treats from More Than Cakes, Michael’s Cookie Jar, and Sugar Bunch Creations, a silent auction filled with everything from honeymoon packages to luxury hotel stays, and the beautifully talented Maria Todd of Mix 96.5 as your Mistress of Ceremonies. The Blissful Wishes Ball guests will tell you they experienced all this and more. The Blissful Wishes Ball benefiting Wish Upon a Wedding took place on September 8, 2011 at the Westin Galleria Hotel, the same night as the Nationwide Fashion Night Out which took place throughout the Galleria. Thanks to the giving hearts of the attendees, many fashionistas themselves, $10,000 were raised benefiting Wish Upon a Wedding Houston.
Through the evening guests had the chance to hear about Wish Upon a Wedding’s mission and past wishes, as well as be introduced to the Houston Chapter’s next Wish Recipients, Alexis and Christian, who’s wedding will take place this November. Christian submitted the application as a surprise for his fiancé, Alexis, who was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in 2007. The Houston Chapter also presented the Shining Star Award, which recognizes and honors the most inspirational, motivational and giving professionals in the Houston Metropolitan and surrounding areas, to the very deserving Gary Baumann.  The Shining Star Award is a way to thank and pay tribute to those professionals who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.  
The Houston Chapter was established in April of 2010 and has made amazing strides to carry out the mission of Wish Upon a Wedding. They granted their first wedding wish in December 2010 right after their inaugural ball and are gearing up for 4 weddings to take place between November and next February. The Blissful Wishes Ball offers an opportunity for the community to see what Wish Upon a Wedding is about and donate to a worthy cause. Wish Upon a Wedding’s mission is to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding Wishes. Their hope is that chosen recipients can inspire other couples facing similar situations to find hope and strength.

Wish Upon a Wedding is dedicated to granting weddings to couples who are facing terminal illness, regardless of sexual orientation.  The foundation was created to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding wishes.
