By: Golden Networking Professor He joined Quinnipiac in 1991 to teach in the international business department. Her exceptional ability to apply the concepts and theory of her subject to real-life situations comes in large part from the circumstances that led her to become a teacher. Professor He’s father was a professor of aerodynamics and nuclear engineering at Tsinghua University in Beijing and the university’s vice chancellor, and her mother was a psychology professor and the dean of basic sciences. During her teenage years, Professor He’s parents were jailed by Mao Zedong. Students were sent to the countryside to work and to be re-educated by the working class. Professor He ended up in Inner Mongolia, where she was a substitute teacher. After four years there, she enrolled at Jilin Institute of Technology in Northeast China, where she earned a master’s in mechanical engineering. Eventually she was allowed to travel to the United States. Professor He worked as a research associate in the Haas School of Business at the University of California before attending the University of Texas at Dallas, where she earned a master’s degree in finance and another master’s and a doctorate degree in international management. Professor He teaches international corporate finance, international trade and investment, and globalization. In the mid-’90s, she and two students founded the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Association to make Asians feel at home at Quinnipiac and to promote an understanding of Asian culture. She also helped found the Society for Global Business Education with colleagues from other campuses. Professor He and her husband, Ping Su, live in Cheshire. They have a 20-year-old son, Xiaowei.
