Sept. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- SUNRIVER---When more than 80 percent of us are sleeping next to our smart phones, it’s time to usher in nostalgia and re-create those outdoor vacations we loved as kids. We need activities that get us offline and checked-in to mountain biking, kayaking, fly-fishing, hiking, golfing, swimming, skiing and boarding. Enter Caldera Springs, located 160 miles southeast of Portland, in the Central Oregon’s Sunriver.

For mountain biking enthusiasts, you’ll find over 40 miles of trails in the Caldera Springs area, while neighboring town, Bend, was named “One of America’s Five Best Mountain Bike Towns,” by Bike magazine.

Caldera Springs’ most attractive selling point is its gorgeous, unfettered scenery. To the west rise the eight peaks of the Cascades, including the ski Mecca, Mount Bachelor.

The eruption of volcanoes 10,000 years ago created lava flows that formed many pristine waterways. Go exploring in a resort-provided kayak or canoe, or find your perfect fishing spot. Anglers will delight in exclusive access to the acres of crystal clear lakes and miles of streams at Caldera Springs. Since Obsidian and Trailmere Lakes are both well-stocked with rainbow trout it’s an easy way to introduce someone to the joy of fishing.

After a long day, the Quarry Pool’s lava slide will bring out the kid in anyone. It also features a cascading waterfall, a splash deck, and a great view of Lake Obsidian.

And of course, there is always golf. Caldera Links is the resort’s complimentary nine-hole course, designed by Robert Cupp. More experienced golfers can play the adjacent Sunriver Resort’s 18-hole championship courses: Meadows, Woodlands or the Crosswater, voted one of America’s Top 100 Courses by Golf Digest.

At the end of the day, it is all about relaxation and comfort. Caldera Springs’ well-appointed homes offer every luxury. One option for groups is the Dancing Rock house. It sleeps nine and has four bedrooms and four and-a-half baths.

“Dancing Rock at Caldera Springs is my paradise. After fly-fishing, I fire up the grill, watch the deer on the seventh hole, and then soak in the hot tub under the stars. It doesn’t get any better,” said Emanuel Rose, owner of http://www.strategicemarketing.com, based in northern California. “I appreciate the wi-fi too, in case something comes up at work.”

Nestled among the Cascade Mountains and only 15 miles south of Bend, Sunriver has its own private airport or you can fly commercially. Denver, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle all have direct flights through nearby Redmond Municipal Airport. Sunriver was named a “Top 10 Vacation Destination” by Family Circle magazine.
