Nationally Syndicated Media Personality Tom Joyner Celebrates ‘Dr. Day’

Sept. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Tom Joyner, host of the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, several of his on-air personalities and his local affiliates will be hosting a series of health screenings with live broadcasts from Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, New York and Washington, DC.

The live broadcast will take place Friday, September 30th between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. EST.  Each city will offer a wide range of health screenings ranging from diabetes testing, free flu shots, free massages, hearing and vision tests, fitness demos, wellness seminars and much more. This year’s collaboration with the Ohio State University Medical Center will allow listeners in any city to receive FREE health and wellness advice from African American physicians during that morning’s broadcast by calling 1-866-Joyner-6.  Other participating sponsors include the Alzheimer’s Association, Bayer, CVS, Susan G. Komen FOR THE CURE, Novo Nordisk, and Rx Outreach.

‘Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day’, a nationwide health initiative, started by Tom Joyner in 2002, is designed to reduce the health disparity between African Americans and the general population; improve access to culturally relevant health care information; better educate members of the African American community regarding the benefits of prevention and treatment of serious diseases and create accountability in the African American community to take a more active role in encouraging loved ones to seek health care.
