Toms River, New Jersey -  September 23, 2011 For those who are new to the profession or looking to improve their skills, the Fundamentals Track and Kick Off Networking Reception will be held on Wednesday, November 2, from 1pm to 5:30pm and 6pm to 8pm, respectively.  The full-day conference will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 8am to 4:30pm.
The Conference on Philanthropy is the year's best opportunity for fundraising professionals to come together to exchange ideas about techniques, trends, and strategies. The conference offers the opportunity to network with both local and national professionals and meet representatives from leading organizations who support the profession. They will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the latest fundraising products and services.
The event is the perfect opportunity to learn from fellow executive directors; presidents and CEOS; vice presidents of development; program managers; special event coordinators; development staff; board members; grassroots and volunteer fundraisers; and other non-profit professionals.
This year's keynote speaker will be Carlos Dominguez, a Senior Vice President in Cisco’s Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO.  Carlos is a technology evangelist, speaking to and motivating audiences worldwide about how technology is changing, how we communicate, collaborate, and especially how we work. Drawing from his 19 years at Cisco, he talks about how technology is changing the rules of business and how we as business people can keep up with technology so as not to get left behind. If you are an AFP member who registers and pays by September 30, the event costs are: Fundamentals on Wednesday and conference on Thursday, $280; Conference only on Thursday, $245; Fundamentals only on Wednesday, $75; lunch plus one afternoon session on Thursday Only, $100.  For non-members: Fundamentals on Wednesday and Conference on Thursday, $330; Conference only on Thursday, $295; Fundamentals Only on Wednesday, $125; lunch plus one afternoon session on Thursday, $125.  Association for Healthcare Philanthropy members may attend the conference at the same price as AFP members. Scholarships are available; to apply for the 2011 COP Scholarship, visit and answer a few questions, such as: How will attendance at the conference benefit your employer? What do you hope to gain personally and professionally from attending the conference? The application deadline is October 15, 2011.  All scholarship recipients will serve as a room monitor for one session during the day, and will be assigned volunteer duties that day. Only one applicant per agency is eligible to apply for a scholarship.  Applicants who are granted a scholarship and are a current AFP member will pay $45. Non-members pay $100. Once accepted, instructions will be sent on how to register at the special rate.
