Sept. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- This 8 day/7 night women's only group tour takes you on a journey to the pyramids and temples of ancient Egypt.

Staying in 5* luxury hotels:  Fairmont Nile City, Cairo and Sofitel Winter Palace, Luxor

Day 1:  Arrival in Cairo
Upon arrival into Cairo International Airport you will be met by our representative who will assist you with arrival formalities and transfer to your hotel.    Relax after your flight before meeting your fellow travellers at our welcome dinner.

Day 2:  Cairo:  Pyramids, Egyptian Museum
After breakfast at the hotel we visit the magnificient Giza Necropolis home of the famous pyramids.   Your  guide will explain the history of the Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, Menkaure and the iconic Great Sphinx.    Take a horse or camel ride through the pyramid complex, visit the Solar Boat Museum or even venture inside the Great Pyramid and walk through the Grand Gallery.   After lunch visit the Egyptian Museum which houses over 120,000 artifacts.  See statues, sarcophagi, mummies and jewellery from the past 5,000 years and of course the famous Tutankhamun exhibit.  Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

Day 3:  Cairo:  Citadel, Old Cairo, Coptic Cairo, Khan el Khalili
After breakfast at the hotel we visit the Salah ad-Din Citadel, a medieval fortification located on Mokattam Hill with wonderful views over Cairo city.  It is an historical site which houses several museums and mosques, the most famous being the Ottoman built Mohammad Ali mosque.  After lunch visit Old Cairo and Coptic Cairo which encompasses the Babylon Fortress and the Hanging Church.    Stop at a traditional Egyptian coffeehouse before exploring the alleyways of the famous Khan el Khalili souk (bazaar) where you can haggle for a souvenir or two.  Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

Day 4:  Luxor:  Karnak Temple, Felucca sailing
After breakfast transfer to Cairo airport for a short flight to Luxor.  Visit the magnificent Karnak Temple.  This enormous temple complex is unique due to the length of time it was in use and the large number of pharaohs who made contributions to its buildings.  The hypostyle hall is an amazing area housing 134 beautifully carved columns.  After lunch you have free time before we enjoy a relaxing sunset sail down the River Nile on a felucca before taking a stroll through the souk and another opportunity to haggle for a bargain.  Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

Day 5:  Luxor:  Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon, Hatchepsut & Habu Temples
After breakfast in your hotel we spend the day on the West Bank of Luxor.  See the Colossi of Memnon, 2 giant statues of Amenhotep III, which stood at the entrance to his memorial temple.  Walk through the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of the ancient pharaohs and be amazed at the size of their tombs and the paintings which depict the pharaohs journey to the afterlife.  After lunch at a local restaurant we visit Hatchepsut Temple, the female pharaohs funerary temple before visiting the beautiful Medinat Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramses III.  Return to the hotel before dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 6:  Luxor:  Luxor Temple, Attar (Egyptian herbalist/perfumist)
After breakfast in your hotel we visit Luxor Temple which sits opposite the River Nile and is connected to Karnak Temple by the Avenue of Sphinx.  Nemerous pharaohs contributed to the temple buildings including Hatchepsut, Tuthmosis III, Amenhotep III, Ramses II and Alexander the Great.  After lunch visit a traditional Attar, an Egyptian herbalist/ perfumist who will explain the use of traditional Egyptian medicinal herbs, therapeutic oils and perfume oils.    Enjoy a traditional British afternoon tea, Egyptian style, at the famous Winter Palace hotel.  Dinner will be in a local restaurant.

Day 7: Luxor:  Garagos pottery visit, Cairo
After breakfast visit the village of Garagos, known for it's unique style of pottery.  The objects are produced with the same red silt that the pharaohs used 5,000 years ago for their pottery.  The blue, yellow and green tones along with the fish and bird designs make Garagos pottery unique.
Please note this excursion to Garagos may be substituted for another at short notice.  After lunch transfer to Luxor airport for flight to Cairo and farewell dinner.

Day 8:  Cairo
Transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
