Dennis Scott joins Ashworth College faculty as new Residential Energy Auditor instructor

Sept. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia – Ashworth College, a leading provider of accredited, online educational programs, announced that Dennis Scott has joined its faculty as instructor for Ashworth’s (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) Professional Residential Energy Auditor program.

A resident of Lawrenceville, GA, Scott has more than 20 years of professional and academic experience in the air conditioning and refrigeration field, with 12 years dedicated to with the AC /refrigeration trades union servicing and installing commercial and residential systems.

“Customers are always looking for energy-saving advice ranging from increasing the SEER on Air Conditioning and Heating systems to checking for leaks in the ductwork and building shell to upgrading the appliances to Energy Star,” said Scott who believes it’s important to include his customers in the process and to help them understand how they can be saving money by making their home more energy efficient. Other popular questions include improving the insulation of the home, caulking, insulating, weather stripping, window and door replacement, even questions about more efficient lighting.

Excited to bring his working knowledge into the classroom, Scott brings to Ashworth College a wide range of residential and commercial experience, having worked on all types of systems including high rise residential and office buildings, houses, malls, hospitals, grocery stores, package units, central systems and more. “I’ve always enjoyed sharing what I know with others and helping them become good servicemen and mechanics,” he commented, referring to his years of experience training of co-workers and apprentices. “I’m looking forward to working with the students at Ashworth College.

Scott brings with him 10 years experience in the building management industry where he services, repairs, installs, and performs preventative maintenance on all the air conditioning and refrigeration systems. He currently works for Camden Development which has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work for in the country.

Scott earned an Associate of Science Degree in Industrial Management from Miami-Dade Community College and completed a training program in air conditioning, refrigeration and heating at Miami Lakes Technical Education Center.

Among his many credentials, he was awarded his Certificate of Competency License from the state of Florida in 1990, certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, holds a completion of Apprenticeship Certificate in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating, and Piping Mechanics and a Mechanical Journeyman’s License, as well as chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification.
