Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation Launches “Garden’s are for Kids” at Tucker Middle

Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Atlanta  – The Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation is launching their ‘Garden’s are for Kids’ program at Tucker Middle School on Friday, September 30. The program is a one-day interactive gardening initiative designed to educate and motivate students to avoid unhealthy foods while learning the principles of gardening.  With sharply rising cases of childhood obesity in the state of Georgia, now more than ever parents must monitor what their children are eating. Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation today announced the Garden’s are for Kids’ program will be an annual initiative in which they will donate raised garden beds complete with fruit and vegetable plants to local schools. “Our goal is to teach children the principle of healthy eating and what better way to do that than teaching them how to plant a garden” said Lori Manns, President of Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation, Inc.

The Home Depot and Trevelino/Keller have partnered with the Live Healthy & Thrive Youth Foundation as sponsors to offer this educational program for free to local area schools.

About Tucker Middle School
Tucker Middle School (TMS) was built in 2004. Due to enrollment, TMS ranks as the largest middle school in DeKalb County with nearly 1500 students. TMS is also in the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate school. The certification takes 5 years to complete and TMS is currently in its 3rd year of the process.
