Latest 'Find my Font' identifies stroked and oblique type

Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Softonium Developments announced the release of version 2.2 of 'Find my Font', its leading font identification desktop application.

Designers are often faced with the task of identifying the font of text in a printed or a digital image. This can be a very time consuming and error prone task especially when the designer's computer contains a few hundreds or thousands of fonts.

'Find my Font' is a desktop utility program that identifies fonts in a given digital image and then provides a list of matching fonts on the designer's computer. Most image types are supported or an included screen capture button can provide the image from any application running on the desktop. Using proprietary optimized font recognition technology, 'Find my Font' can identify even the most complex fonts within a few seconds even if the designer has several thousands of fonts on his/her computer. Besides the matching font, a list of alternative close matching fonts is provided to give the designer even more choices. A text preview allows the designer to verify the font match and select the proper font. If desired, the program gives the user the option to install the matching font (if not already installed).

The latest version (2.2) allows the user to match fonts that have been emboldened (stroked) or italicized (oblique) by a graphics program. In this case 'Find my Font' specifically marks the matched font(s) as [*bold] or [*oblique] to inform the designer that there is no exact font that matches the image but rather a graphics program has to be used to deform the type.
Special commands allow the user to easily match script (connected) text and text on an arc (rotated).

'Find my Font' is available for both Mac OS X and Windows and can be purchased on the http://www.findmyfont.com site for $49.00. A Free (trial) edition of the font identification software is also available.
