This informational program will be held in the Glenpointe Marriott in Teaneck. Keratoconus is an eye disease that occurs in about one out of every 1,000 individuals. It is also one of the most difficult eye diseases to diagnose. Keratoconus leads to a progressive thinning and distortion of the cornea, the main focusing lens of the eye. Keratoconus is the subject of intensive current research. This educational event is open to those with keratoconus, family members, and professionals. There is no charge for attendance. Dr. Peter Hersh, M.D., founder of The Cornea and Laser Eye Institute, P.A. and the CLEI Center of Keratoconus will be hosting this event. Dr. Hersh is a corneal specialist who formally inaugurated the CLEI Center for Keratoconus in 2003. The center specializes in the treatment of this eye disease and also sponsors a number of research programs looking at various aspects of the disease and its treatment. Seminar topics will include an introduction to keratoconus, contact lenses for keratoconus, medical and surgical options, and current research innovations.
