This October, Take a "Pink Ride" in a Green Limousine

Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- As the Valley’s streets flood with enthusiastic walkers and joggers for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Discount Cab, Arizona’s iconic green cab company, will go pink to help raise money and awareness in the community.

Discount Cab will designate 13 of its Prius cabs with “pink cab” banners. These “pink” cabs will donate one dollar from each fare toward this year’s fundraising goal of $5,200. Proceeds from the sponsored vehicles will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Discount Cab’s “Pink Ride” campaign will run through the month of October to coincide with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“We at Total Transit understand that breast cancer is a real concern for both our employees and our customers,” said Craig Hughes, CEO of Total Transit, Inc., parent company of Discount Cab. “One out of every eight women in this country will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.”

Participation in the fundraising drive is part of a global campaign by the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association (TLPA), to heighten breast cancer awareness and raise funds to fight the disease and provide effective treatments. TLPA has 1,000 members worldwide, including Discount Cab. The campaign is also part of Total Transit’s on-going efforts to give back to the community, aligning with the company’s core principles.
