Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- What might author and renowned designer, James Swan, say about your faux-French furniture, your bad lighting and too short draperies? In his book, 101 Things I Hate About Your House (published by HCI, Inc., ISBN: 978-0757315671, 270 pages, May 2011, Carol Beggy, [contributor], Stanley A. Meyer [illustrator]), Swan takes a humorous, but brutal approach to what he considers to be the fabulously bad faux-pas of design.
James Swan will be in Rockville, Maryland, Wednesday, September 21, 6-8PM for a book signing/reception to the trade at Dan Kuglers Design Center (11910-J Parklawn Drive, Rockville, MD 20852).
Hosted by Fanny Zigdon, Design Loft Interiors and Dan Kugler, Swan is in town to help celebrate the launch of some new lines which will be available to the trade and consumers through Kugler’s Design Center and Design Loft Interiors.
“I’m delighted to be in Rockville for this special launch,” says Swan.
Swan’s book debuted in May of this year and the designer’s humorous approach makes learning about your own bad design choices slightly more palatable.  At the heart of Swan’s design philosophy, however, is the key word: gracious.
“We understand style and taste as being subjective, but principles for gracious living are not,” says Swan.  “While the former denotes mastery of historical nuance and devotion to a fickle public's fleeting fixations, the latter—and the object of our attention—is rooted in common sense piled high with practical experience.”
One such new line being made available is the artwork of Alex Turco, multi-media artist from Milan.  His artwork is now available through both Fanny Zigdon, Design Loft Interiors (Baltimore) and Dan Kugler’s Design Center in Rockville.
“Dan and I are delighted to collaborate on this joint venture,” says Fanny Zigdon, “and we are thrilled that James Swan is here to celebrate with us!”
