CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago community is invited to raise a glass in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County. Featuring a four-course dinner, fine wine and a live Fund A Child Auction.

DATE:    Thursday, October 13, 2011

TIME:       6:00pm to 9:30 pm

PLACE:    The Arts Club of Chicago
      201 East Ontario Street

Cocktails for CASA: 25th Anniversary Silver Lining Celebration will highlight 25 wonderful years of advocacy for children in foster care. Join us for an evening of cocktails, an unforgettable special Anniversary program and dinner and live Fund A Child Auction where guests will be given the opportunity to financially support the organization.

Proceeds will benefit the organization’s mission of giving abused and neglected children a voice in court and securing safe and permanent homes for them. Last year, over 300 CASA volunteers advocated for nearly 700 children in Cook County.  Unfortunately there are nearly 5300 children in the Cook County child protection system, most of which don’t have CASA volunteers advocating for them. It only costs $1200 annually to provide a volunteer CASA Advocate for each child.  Cocktails for CASA helps make it possible.

Tickets to the event are $175 per person, and may be purchased online at www.casacookcounty.org.

About CASA of Cook County

For 25 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County has been helping abused and neglected children involved in the child protection system in Cook County. CASA dedicates one volunteer advocate to champion one child (or family of children) in the child protection courts.  The personal, one on one way that CASA works is intended to allow the advocate to really understand a child’s situation and needs. Advocates are appointed by a judge and assigned to one case at a time, serving as an independent voice for abused and neglected children in court. CASA volunteers help ensure that children receive appropriate services and treatment by: independently monitoring a child’s situation, identifying community resources, and participating in the court process.
