WellMed Clinics Conducting Relief Drive For Victims of Devastating Central Texas Fires

Twenty-two San Antonio-area clinics accepting clothes, food and more through October 14; More than 1,500 homes destroyed in Bastrop County alone.

Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- San Antonio, TX – Staff at 22 San Antonio-area clinics in the WellMed Medical Group are now collecting non-monetary donations for more than 1,500 families whose homes have been destroyed by wildfires in Bastrop and surrounding Central Texas communities.

Clinics will be accepting donations through October 14 during regular business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Items in great need include:

   • Clothing (new or gently used)    • Toiletries
   • Paper goods          • Non-perishable food and water   
   • Bedding              • Baby items (diapers, bottles, etc.)
   • First Aid / Medical Supplies   • Pet items (food, bedding, cages, etc)

Monetary donations will not be accepted at WellMed clinics and should be directed to the American Red Cross (american.redcross.org/sanantonio).

Supplies will be delivered to non-profit aid groups working to help families displaced by the wildfires. Sites listed in bold are the major drop-off distribution sites, but all clinics will accept donations of food and supplies.
