Invata Intralogistics Interviews DC Velocity Editor-at-Large James Cooke
Invata today released the first in a series of expert videos from noted industry experts. Invata will be presenting expert commentary on key pressure points within the supply chain industry: inventory, infrastructure, labor, and transportation.
According to Kevin Reader, CMO of Invata, “With the new series, Invata’s goal will be to promote ideas, insights and feedback from industry thought leaders that challenge the status quo,” adding, “Only in this way will the industry continue to improve and innovate – with Invata committed to being a leader in the process.”
In the first of the series, DC Velocity and CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly Editor James Cooke speaks about the primary and volatile issues facing today’s supply chain managers. Focusing on the impacts of disruptions and the cost of fossil fuels, Mr. Cooke makes the point that major companies and key supply chain executives should be re-examining their supply chain on an annual basis.
He also posits that supply chain leaders would be wise to consider an 80/20 rule for secondary sourcing in order to ensure that major disruptions do not fatally cripple important delivery and replenishment activities; and that as per-barrel oil prices rise to exceed $100/barrel or more, companies will need to re-consider the use of extended supply chains and the resulting transportation costs.
