According to BreastCancer.org, about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, and almost 80% of women who develop the illness have no family history of breast cancer. Compared to Caucasian women, African American women are less likely to develop breast cancer, but are more likely to die from it, due to the onset of more invasive breast cancers, and lack of education and finances for prevention.
