The BPBF, Inc. Supports the Fight Against Breast Cancer with Happy Hour Event in Wash., DC!

Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- (WASHINGTON, DC) - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in an effort to support the national fight against the illness, The BPBF, Inc. is hosting “The PINK Party,” a happy hour event designed to raise funds and awareness for a cure. The event will take place Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Eden’s Lounge (1716 I Street NW) in Washington, DC. The organization is asking that attendees arrive with donations for entry, all of which will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Along with Breast Cancer education, attendees will enjoy giveaways, as well as the perfect added touch for the occasion, a specialty drink, aptly titled “The Cure,” at a discounted rate all evening. According to BreastCancer.org, about 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, and almost 80% of women who develop the illness have no family history of breast cancer. Compared to Caucasian women, African American women are less likely to develop breast cancer, but are more likely to die from it, due to the onset of more invasive breast cancers, and lack of education and finances for prevention.
