Three Snell & Wilmer Attorneys Honored at Arizona State University Alumni Reunion

Snell & Wilmer attorneys Sheila Carmody, Bahar Schippel and Bianca Stoll were recognized at a special Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law alumni reunion weekend honoring distinguished alumna.

Sept. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Phoenix attorneys Sheila Carmody, Bahar Schippel and Bianca Stoll were recognized at a special Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law alumni reunion weekend honoring distinguished alumna. The weekend consisted of a slate of activities with Interim Dean Douglas Sylvester, including an alumni golf tournament and a reception at the historic O’Connor House.

   Sheila Carmody was recognized as Outstanding Alumna for the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, class of 1981. Carmody is a partner at Snell & Wilmer where her practice is concentrated on complex litigation with an emphasis on defense of insurance companies and manufacturers in class action cases around the country. She has been recognized as providing outstanding client service as coordinating and local counsel to national companies. Carmody has been named several years running among the The Best Lawyers in America® (2007-2012) in the area of Mass Tort Litigation/Class Action – Defendants, and served as an adviser on the American Law Institute's Committee on the Law on Class Actions. Carmody has two large rescue dogs and three 'large' sons, the youngest who is beginning his college freshman year.

   Bahar Schippel was recognized as Outstanding Alumna for the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, class of 1996. Schippel is a partner in Snell & Wilmer’s tax, employee benefits and estate planning group, and is a certified specialist in tax law with the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization. She specializes in tax planning for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and real estate transactions, drafting LLC and partnership agreements, tax planning in connection with fund formation and operations, structuring tax-efficient debt workouts, designing service provider equity compensation for LLCs and partnerships and representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Schippel currently serves as the Chair of the Partnership Committee of the ABA Tax Section and is Past Chair of the Tax Section of the State Bar of Arizona. Schippel frequently speaks at national and regional tax conferences and contributes articles to top-tier tax publications. Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, she served as Attorney-Advisor for the United States Tax Court in Washington, DC, Teaching Assistant to the Honorable David Laro at Georgetown University Law Center, and Associate at Combs, Mack and Lind.

   Bianca Stoll was recognized for her Outstanding Service to the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, class of 2006. Stoll is a senior associate at Snell & Wilmer where her practice is concentrated in business and finance, with a focus on SEC reporting and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities law and general contracting. She also is a member of Snell & Wilmer’s Attorney Development Committee, Diversity Committee and Hiring Committee.
