Tragedy leads business man home

Family tragedy changed the course of Thailand based expat business man and eventually led him home.
Sept. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Thailand's most prolific Social Media Marketing entity Netmediathailand is now set up as a legal entity in United Kingdom

We asked the managing Director Alan Johnston of newly formed Netmediauk Limited on why they are expanding to United Kingdom?

"Well it's a lot easier when it's your home country for a start it's cost less than 100 pounds to open a Limited company, compared to around 20,000 USD to open up a foreign company in Thailand. Of course picking a name and registering at Companies house is not even scratching the surface of running a successful company, but we have already made tracks online by starting three new blog sites with a UK twist for online marketing, and we already have one of them first page Google.

That is no mean feat because compared to Thailand and English language business websites there, you are dealing with a more mature demographic in U.K., not to mention nearly 5 million businesses here in the UK compared to say 2,000 decent sized expat companies in Thailand. It's a lot more of a challenge here in UK, but is certainly not impossibly to get to where we are on Google for netmediathailand. Just put in 'Social media for business in Thailand' and at least 2 of my sites will be at the top of the search engine.

My secret is no secret at all, it's a system like anything else that needs work and diligence, and doing a little bit of everything that Google and other online gurus tell you to do. Content is king and adding the content to a site regularly usually sends people running due to work commitment. Many look for a quick black hat method that invariably leads to the gutter."

The reason why Alan chose the UK was borne more out of tragedy and destiny than choice:

"I arrived UK chilly February just to make my bi annual pilgrimage to see my children and family and then just a few days back home, my oldest brother died suddenly working on the oil rigs he was only 51 years young, and he was never diagnosed with any heart disease, but he suffered a major heart attack and died miles out to sea of the Aberdeen coast. We were all deeply shocked as you can imagine, and I can only thank my blessings that I saw him happy a few times before he left for Scotland. I decided to stay here for the remainder of the year to be with family.

6 months later in the summer I thought it wise to start business here doing exactly what I was doing in Thailand and teaching companies how to use the internet to gain more business, I attended a government course just to get my head around the business structure in UK and the company was then born 15 September. I know my brother would be so proud of me"

Seems life isn't always about what we expect and it's the meandering course it sets out in front of us that sometimes leads us to our destiny bruised but stronger and wiser for our experiences.
