Sept. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, will be part of the dialogue on how technology is transforming reading as the Platinum Sponsor of the fourth annual School Library Journal Leadership Summit. Focusing this year on “The New World of Reading: Digital, Networked, Transliterate,” the summit brings together thought leaders from the education and publishing fields. Transliteracy, social networks, book apps, and ebooks are among the topics that will be discussed this year.

“We are thrilled to have the privilege of being the Platinum Sponsor of this important conference. It’s invigorating to be a part of this fast paced, thought-provoking environment where we can build new relationships and connect with leaders, share ideas and innovative ways of embracing new technology. It’s an exciting time to be at the forefront of library innovation,” said Matt Keller, Capstone’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Scheduled to speak at the summit include: Brian Selznick, Caldecott-winning author and illustrator of children's books; George O'Connor, bestselling author and illustrator of graphic novels and children's literature; Jarrett Krosoczka, bestselling author and illustrator of children's books; and Lee Rainie, Director of the Pew Internet and American Life Project. Capstone award-winning author Michael Dahl will sign books from the Return to the Library of Doom and DC Super Heroes series during the opening cocktail reception on Wed. Sept. 21.

Another highlight from the conference includes “EBooks Go to School,” a panel discussion offering advice on how to create digital collections at the building, district, county and state levels. Among the panelists includes Connie Dopierala, Media Services Coordinator from Charleston County School District, SC. Connie implemented the Capstone Interactive LibraryTM, a technology-based reading solution which helps preK-8 students practice reading while learning vocabulary and pronunciation skills, in 2009 in the Charleston County School District.

The School Library Journal Leadership Summit will be held September 22-23 in Washington, D.C. For more on the summit, visit www.sljsummit2011.com.
