Gooseberry Patch and Mid-Ohio Foodbank are Cooking for a Cause this Holiday Season

Special-edition cookbook from independent Ohio-based publisher to raise funds for area hunger-relief organization Mid-Ohio Foodbank

Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- With the holiday season approaching, it's not too early to think about gift-giving...and what could be better than giving a heartfelt gift that also gives back to the community?

Recipes for Warming Hearts, brand new from bestselling cookbook publisher Gooseberry Patch, is just that gift. A charming mini-cookbook that's a perfect under-$10 holiday gift, it has the added benefit of lending a helping hand to local families in need.

"Gooseberry Patch is all about food, friends and family," says Jo Ann Martin, co-founder of the Columbus-based publisher. "So when we were thinking of how we could help families, both during the holiday season and year 'round, it made sense to partner with a local organization who's already doing such a fantastic job helping central Ohio families struggling with hunger."

“We’re grateful to be the beneficiary of Gooseberry Patch’s Recipes for Warming Hearts,” said Mid-Ohio Foodbank president and CEO Matt Habash. “With its Recipes for a Cause series, Gooseberry Patch not only provides great gift ideas for cooks everywhere, but also the gift of food for many who would otherwise go without.”

Recipes for Warming Hearts is the third in Gooseberry Patch's Recipes for a Cause cookbook series, following Recipes for Saying Thanks (2010) and Recipes for Kindness (2009). For each book purchased, Gooseberry Patch donates 12-1/2% of the purchase price to central Ohio-based Mid-Ohio Foodbank, a member organization of Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief charity. To date, Gooseberry Patch has donated thousands of dollars to help fight hunger in the United States.

"Recipes for Warming Hearts has lots of simple ideas for little acts of kindness, plus a collection of some of our best recipes for making and giving gifts from the heart," says Vickie Hutchins, co-founder of Gooseberry Patch. "The book's sweet little size and beautiful watercolor artwork make it collectible, giftable and totally feel-good-able...a perfect gift for  dear friends."
