Environmental Update - Can Recycling And Envirowash
Dulux Decorator Centres have recently released data on the amount of empty paint cans that we recycle through the DDC's, which is shown as a percentage of the cans that we purchase .
By: Samantha Davies
The data shows we are recycling 36% of our cans compared to an average for National Contractors of 6% and a National average of only 0.9%. (It should also be noted that this excludes can recycling that is carried out in house through our own Re-cycling Centre facilities at Wirral , Birmingham, Nottingham and West Bromwich) .
Overall, the Hankinson Painting Group are recycling in excess of 50% of the paint containers we use, which is significantly more than any of our competitors .
Congratulations to all involved with our can recycling scheme - it is a great effort and one that is significantly valued by our clients.
Hankinson Painting Group have invested in the Dulux Trade Envirowash innovation. The Envirowash has been purchased for the West Bromwich office
The Envirowash is used to wash out water-borne paint from brushes and rollers. This allows them to be re-used and reduces waste to landfill. The paint contaminated water is converted into clear water, which can be recycled in the system and non-hazardous solid waste which can be disposed of. The re-use of sundry items is environmentally very important, to reduce the associated manufacture of new items from raw materials and reducing waste going to landfill. Recycling the water through the system is a fantastic feature of the Envirowash, reducing the amount of water consumption required for washing out for the company.
