By: Bang Online Marketing The Hacienda features a swanky ensuite bathroom with a spa bath and bifold shutters that divide the bath from the bedroom. It’s a design that Larry Scamaton, sales and marketing manager at Affordable Living, says is unusual in a home of around $200,000. “We’ve taken some ideas from executive homes and incorporated them at a very affordable price,” he says. Providing homebuyers with design features that they might otherwise have thought were out of their reach, the large master suite in the Hacienda includes a wall of built-in wardrobes with mirrored sliding doors. The design team has worked with angled walls to give the Hacienda an executive-style entrance lobby, as well. Double front doors from the portico open to a dedicated entry foyer with the master bedroom to one side and a sunken theatre room to the other. “We opted to design a lobby-style entry as opposed to just a single-door entry,” Larry says. “It gives a feeling of space and does away with long narrow corridors.” This is a bonus on small lots where it’s all too easy to end up with skinny rooms and long hallways. A subtle bend in the foyer keeps the family living areas private when the front doors are open. A wide section of wall is the perfect place to hang a favourite artwork and make a statement as visitors step into the home. Affordable Living offer versions starting from $154,490, the Hacienda has been designed to appeal to a range of buyers, from discerning first-timers and investors, to retired couples and prime-timers whose kids have left the nest. With four double bedrooms, it also suits families with teenagers or adult children at home. Thoughtful zoning means the three minor bedrooms have been arranged together, along with the laundry, toilet and second bathroom. “Kids can have their own retreat area at the rear of the home,” Larry says. Everyone can enjoy the home theatre as a second living and entertaining area, while the alfresco area leading off the family room looks after outdoor living. An island bench with feature paneling and integrated breakfast bar anchors the galley-style kitchen and includes an upstand to shield the kitchen sink from view. “The open-plan design of the kitchen and living areas keeps whoever is using the kitchen engaged with the rest of the family,” Larry says. “We also make sure the home flows well.” He says that the Hacienda addresses a homebuyer’s top three priorities by offering a fabulous master bedroom and ensuite, a great kitchen and ample storage space. There’s a large pantry in the kitchen, two generous linen cupboards in the children’s wing and wardrobes in each bedroom. Larry describes the outside as the “ultra-modern elevation”, featuring Scyon Matrix cladding for a modern modular look. Paula Aubin End
