Meet Local Author of Real Dogs Don't Whisper at Fundraising Event

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Kelly Preston, author of Real Dogs Don't Whisper, will be making a guest appearance at Bark In The Park fundraising event. The event is Saturday September 17th from 10:00am to 5:00pm: William Street Park - William and South 16th Streets, San Jose, CA. Kelly will be available for book signing and questions during the event.

Dogs Take the Lead is this year's theme at Bark in the Park 2011. When you take a dog for a walk, is the dog taking you for the walk? The answer to this question will be evident when dogs and their owners attend Bark in the Park 2011, the Largest Dog Festival in the US. When over 3500 dogs and 15,000 humans have enjoyed this family oriented, all-day event it is clear who is taking the lead.

Located in an expansive, tree lined neighborhood park, this fun day features contests, music, celebrities, demonstrations, dog-related vendors and services, kids activities. Plus, dogs, lots of fun loving dogs.

Bark in the Park is a fundraising event hosted by the Naglee Park neighborhood's Campus Community Association (CCA). All proceeds benefit the CCA, Humane Society Silicon Valley and San Jose Animal Care Center.

Silly Dog Tricks 12:00 pm.
Pet/Owner Look Alike Contest 1:00 p.m.
Happy Dog Tail Wagging Contest 2:00 p.m.

About the authors:

Kelly Preston is, first and foremost, an animal lover. Raised on a ten-acre property in a small town in Pennsylvania, she grew up with horses, rabbits, and - of course - dogs. When she left home after college, she acquired Gizmo, an irresistible Lhasa Apso that started her on a journey full of joys and sorrows, hopes and tribulations, frustrations, endless lessons in patience, and above all else, love. All of this has come at the hands (more precisely the paws) of Gizmo, Betty Boop, Buffy, Carla Mae, and the inimitable Mr. MaGoo.


Mr. MaGoo is a nine-year-old Lhasa Apso and the book's co-creator and co-writer. He is, in his own words, "the alpha and omega of all dogs - in the cutest and sparkiest, most fun-loving package ever." Ignoring Kelly's persistent eye-rolling, Mr. MaGoo has forged ahead with this project in an attempt to, as he puts it, "present the facts from a dog's perspective. In other words, the correct, most accurate, most interesting, only-one-that-matters perspective," to which he adds, simply, "Woof!"
