41 years from the last concert of Jimi Hendrix

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- There’s no doubt that Jimi Hendrix was one of the most claimed guitarist of all the time, not only because his great technique but for the great performance that he used to offer to his audience, burning guitars in the middle of the stage, guitar soloing with his teeth and playing guitar behing his back. That kind of stuff were the thing that made him famous.

Love +Peace Concert in Open Air of German would be his last gig ever on September the 6th in the year 1970, despite the delay and the rain Hendrix insisted on playing for the fans that came to the festival solely for his performance…little did they know it would be his last. In Early on September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died in London. He had spent the latter part of the previous evening at a party and was picked up at close to 03:00 by girlfriend Monika Dannemann and driven to her flat at the Samarkand Hotel, 22 Lansdowne Crescent, Notting Hill. From autopsy data and statements by friends about the evening of September 17, it has been estimated that he died sometime after 03:00, possibly before 04:00, but also possibly later, though no estimate was made at the autopsy, or inquest

From the Monterey pop festival. Famous incident in the end of the gig in which Hendrix mimes having sex with his guitar, douses it in lighter fluid, sets it aflame, and smashes it. Awesome.
