At Huntington’s Spa Adriana, the award-winning Aveda lifestyle salon and spa, this trend is front and center with its new Rag Doll signature beauty collection, which revisits the 1960’s with a modern twist – complimenting what’s hot on the runways for Fall 2011.  

Rag Doll made its debut on the September Huntington Hot List, a collection of fall’s must-have styles, fashions, accessories as well as hot spots to “see and be seen,” all from Huntington’s own world-class businesses.  Encouraging shoppers to “keep it local,” the Hot List was featured in the September issue of Village Connection magazine.  

Recently, Huntington Hot List businesses participated in a photo at Coindre Hall and Prime Restaurant. Spa Adriana provided the hair, makeup, set design, editorial concept and photography.

Embracing the textures of the 60s, the Huntington Hot List features easy, natural textures, earthy tones and BIG, beautiful hair - locks that are layered, touchable, filled with movement.  “Spa Adriana’s Rag Doll collection is sexy and fun, celebrating our strength, our vibrant selves, the intrigue and undeniable beauty of today’s woman,” said Adriana Vater, creative director and co-founder of Spa Adriana.  “This issue of the Hot List focuses not just the fine shops and services in Huntington, but on the styles and trends that are seen around town at the best restaurants.”

Hair is BIG, sexy and fun!  Spa Adriana’s new Rag Doll Collection incorporates layered, textured looks for easy styles that go from day to night.  It’s all about movement, volume and natural beauty: wavy hair gets amped up, tighter curls are loud and proud, straighter locks are tousled just a bit.  

“Give creative license to curls with light products such as Aveda’s Be Curly Style Prep in combination with a flax aloe gel on damp hair to enhance its natural wave,” continued Vater.  “Limit frizz with a curl enhancer, blow dry on low with a mild heat.  Shape curls with your fingers to tease out that natural texture.”

Highlights add dimension and intrigue.  Painted-on highlights add color and emulate nature with a casual, random application.  Avoid overprocessed, “burnt”-looking hair by adding color, not stripping out hues.  Warmer tones resonate fall’s darker colors.  Blondes are warm, too, never brassy.  Highlights add life to mousey, ashy tones.
