Sept. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The 2012 KIA Sorento comes in four trim levels: base, LX, EX, and the sporty SX.  Optional on the LX and four-cylinder EX but standard on the EX V6 and SX is a third-row 50/50-split-folding seat with room for two.

Standard equipment on the base model includes six-speed manual transmission, 17-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, air-conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping multifunction steering wheel, a trip computer, Bluetooth connectivity and a CD sound system with satellite radio, an iPod adapter and an auxiliary audio jack.

Included on the LX trim are a six-speed automatic transmission, body-colored heated outside mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and a second-row armrest. The LX offers a Convenience package that includes the more powerful four-cylinder engine for front-wheel-drive models, foglamps, roof rail, rear parking sensors, heated front seats and a back-up camera with a rearview-mirror-mounted display. The Convenience package is optional. The Convenience package for LX V6 models includes the third-row seat.

The EX trim comes with the LX’s equipment plus 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition/entry, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air conditioning on V6 models, rear parking sensors, a power driver seat with power lumber support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and Kia’s Uvo voice-activated electronics interface. Upgrade to the Premium Plus package will add power-folding outside mirrors, leather seating, heated front seats, a power front passenger seat, a hard-drive-based navigation system, a rearview camera and a 10-speaker Infinity surround-sound audio system with digital music storage. The EX V6 includes features from the Premium and Limited packages. Also included in those optional packages are a panoramic sunroof and a ventilated driver seat.

Base and LX trim levels are powered by a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 175-horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque. Also available is a direct-injected version that is rated at 191-hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. This is optional on the LX but standard on the EX.

A 3.5-liter V6 rated at 276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque is optional on LX and EX models but standard on the SX.

Standard safety features of the new 2012 KIA Sorento include antilock disc bakes, stability control, hill-start assist, hill descent control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front active head restraints.
