These exciting one-day events will give average travellers an exclusive opportunity to find out what it’s really like to be a part of a wildlife conservation volunteer vacation. The Sampler Days, which previously have taken place only in Europe and Australia, will take place in Minnewaska State Park in New York, Lory State Park in Colorado, and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park in California next year. Biosphere Expeditions is bringing the popular Sampler Days to the US to give Americans an opportunity to learn more about the experience of being part of a volunteer conservation program. Participants will see what it’s like to be part of a small team, working alongside park rangers, expedition leaders, and fellow volunteers while learning techniques used in wildlife conservation research and data collection. Volunteers have an opportunity to learn skills like how to read a map, use a GPS and compass, how to collect important animal data as well as how to interpret animal tracks. Participants will also learn how to use telemetry equipment and set up wildlife camera traps. Volunteers also get to learn about the flora and fauna, history, and conservation programs that are taking place in the parks. The Sampler Days are a perfect way for potential volunteers to find out whether or not they are interested in participating in a longer volunteer wildlife program, which Biosphere Expeditions offers in locations around the world.
