Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- A warm bath can soothe the spirit as well as aching joints and muscles, but make sure you practice bathtub safety! Hundreds of people slip or fall and injure themselves while getting in or out of a tub.
Some tips for everyone:
•   Install non-slip treads or a bath mat inside the tub. Keep the tub clean to avoid slippery soap scum or mold.
•   Plan plenty of time for your bath or shower; rushing can increase your risk of falling.
•   If you feel unsure when taking a bath or shower, ask for help. A call button or intercom will also make you feel more secure.
•   Use a bath rail or grab bars  to help you balance as you stand, sit, or enter or leave
the tub. It will also give you something to hold if you begin to fall.                                NOTE: a towel bar is NOT a substitute for a properly installed grab bar. They are not designed to hold your weight and are not safe.
•   A bathtub bench or seat can be helpful and several styles are available with or without

There is no need to avoid the bath you enjoy. With just a few simple precautions and safely tools you can enjoy your bath at home or away.
