Sept. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Community Groups in Wolverhampton have been gearing up for David Cameron’s Big Society, by attending a series of workshops.

The workshops put on by the Ethnic Minority Council are designed to help Charities and Social Enterprises in the city to be fit for purpose. To help them get into better shape for contracts that are community focused.

Ethnic Minority Council’s board director Don Smith said, “It’s more important than ever for Community Groups to be ready and in position to tender for the Government’s Big Society contracts.

Third Sector groups are doing great work in the City, but many are lacking one or two key skills. Skills which will enable them to be better placed to go for and win significant contracts”.

The latest in a series of EMC Community Development Programme workshops took place on 17th August and was very well received by attendees; there are a further 4 to follow. Subjects such as Business Planning, Social Media, Full Cost Recovery and General Procurement will be the topics local groups will have access to through these workshops.

John Sealey of Your Marketing Matters will be delivering 3 workshops, on Marketing, Business Planning and Social Media. He is an international speaker, bestselling author, broadcaster and a local internet marketing authority.

Those who attend will receive ideas they can put to work straightaway.

John said "The ideas and approaches I share are low cost or no cost. Organisations in the Third Sector need marketing tools which are simple, quick and low cost. Most don't have the resources, financially to throw a great deal of money at their marketing efforts.

They also don't have the human resource to spend hours on end putting their marketing activity together. So these workshops are ideal for the community group, who has little in the way of time and money."

Those interested in attending the workshops are asked to contact the Ethnic Minority Council to find out more information. The next workshop is to be held on 21st September.
