DISH Network Over Cable: Why The Difference Is Critical

DISH Network advantages relative to traditional cable TV options.

Sept. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- As the times change, certain technologies and services become more or less useful and consumers are forced to change their habits and adapt.  It’s no different when it comes to your television service provider.  The only way to truly get a deal with a cable provider is to order a bundle of services, including about $30 a month for a home phone line.  How many people actually utilize a home phone line these days?  Does it really make sense to stack on the costs for something that is steadily fading out of use?  Make sure you do research on your options before you commit to a service package that doesn’t fit your needs.
1.   Are you getting the best price?
A comparison of DISH Network prices to those of your local cable provider will reveal that DISH Network packages start at just $24.99 per month (with some limited time offers reducing this price even further) but the cable company can charge well over $70 per month and installation is typically about $40 for a single room.  DISH Network installation is completely free for up to four rooms and there are no hidden fees to worry about.  If you are considering a cable package, make sure you read the fine print for any long term commitments or fees that you aren’t aware of
2.   Is the programming as extensive as you would like?
The average number of channels offered by cable providers across the country is 200, with around 120 HD channels.  On the other hand, DISH Network offers more than 500 channels and over 200 HD channels, all in digital format for higher quality sound and picture than competitors.  DISH Network  offers customers 30 premium movie channels so they have more entertainment options available.  Pay per view and DVR also add programming flexibility that can’t be found with cable TV.
3.   What equipment do you get?
If you choose DISH Network you will receive three free satellite receivers that can connect up to six rooms in your home.  This provider also has many promotions that provide DVR and HD DVR receivers for free or dual-tuner receivers which allow viewing in two different rooms independently with only one receiver.  If you choose a cable provider you will have to pay a monthly fee to rent a cable box and you will also require converter boxes to connect the cable line to the televisions in your home.  And there are even more monthly charges for a digital video recorder or an HD converter box in order to get the same service that comes with DISH Network.  Make sure you have enough room in your TV stand!
4.   Are you getting the service you need?
The main reason that consumers have for not choosing DISH Network if they have chosen cable instead is that they are worried about outages during storms or high winds.  However, DISH Network outages average less than 1 % per year, but cable TV outages average 3% to 5%. The numbers speak for themselves!  According to J. D. Power and Associates, DISH Network has ranked higher in customer satisfaction than any cable company in the past five years.  Much of this can be attributed to the seven customer call centers that DISH Network owns in the U. S. and operates internally.  If you have ever had technological issues, you know how frustrating it can be if a company has poor customer service and how much time and effort quality service can save you.
