Follow on Google News | Team FALKEN Tire scores its second victory of the season at Baltimore American Le Mans Series raceFirst dry weather win for Porsche 997 equipped with FALKEN tyres in ALMS
By: nick bailey Excellent tyre consistency played its part in the weekend’s success on the challenging street circuit. "At the beginning of the weekend we didn't really know what kind of package we'd have,” says FALKEN driver Bryan Sellers. “It was a very smooth asphalt and concrete. To be honest we didn't know we'd have a compound soft enough. The tyre turned out to be fantastic.” A first turn incident among the GT frontrunners gave the team mate Wolf Henzler the impetus to climb from fifth to second then eventually taking the class lead after passing Dirk Werner’s BMW M3. After the cycle of pitstops Henzler held third but a further accident between the leading Corvette and BMW gave Henzler the chance to seize the lead, something he would hold onto until the end. Unusually for the very competitive GT class, the FALKEN Porsche headed its rivals by over a lap at the finish. It also secured the Michelin Green X efficiency and performance challenge, underlining the team’s supremacy and increasing competitiveness against Ferraris, BMWs, Chevrolet Corvettes and other Porsches. The next round of the series takes place at the renowned Laguna Seca course on September 17th. End
