Volunteers and Sponsors Make The Conservation Alliance Boulder Backyard Collective The Best Yet

Sept. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Boulder, Colo. — The Conservation Alliance hosted their third annual Boulder Backyard Collective in Colorado on Friday, August 26th.  In partnership with the Colorado Mountain Club, Eldorado Canyon State Park, and Conservation Alliance member companies, the Backyard Collective volunteers worked tirelessly on trail maintenance and habitat restoration in Eldorado Canyon State Park.

“This is the largest showing yet for a Boulder Backyard Collective, and we are thankful to all our sponsors, partners and volunteers for their incredible enthusiasm and commitment to support our mission,” said Deanna Lloyd, Outreach Associate for the Conservation Alliance.

The Conservation Alliance would like to thank its sponsoring companies including: Osprey Packs, American Recreation Products, Inc., Backpacker’s Pantry, Outdoor Industry Association, Leisure Trends Group, La Sportiva, SCARPA,  and Nite Ize. A variety of companies including Verde PR & Consulting, Great Plain Mountain Stuff, Sea to Summit, IMBA and Burt’s Bees also sent volunteers to join the cleanup effort.

More than 100 volunteers came out for the day. Not only did they work hard but they celebrated their efforts by enjoying a catered lunch from Whole Foods and refreshments generously donated by New Belgium brewing company, also a sponsor of the event. The volunteers wrapped the day by participating in the Grantee Fair, where Colorado Mountain Club, Colorado Environmental Coalition, and The Access Fund shared additional ways these volunteers could support local environmental efforts.
 
The Conservation Alliance is a group of outdoor industry companies that disburses its collective annual membership dues to grassroots environmental organizations. The Alliance launched the Backyard Collective Program in January 2009 to connect individuals in the outdoor industry with the work of organizations that receive financial support from the group.  The Backyard Collective moves that action to the field, and gives people a venue to get their “hands dirty” for the sake of conservation.

The next Backyard Collective will take place in New Hampshire on September 13th.
