Breaking Through the Misconceptions is not a book that teaches the reader how to become a Wiccan practitioner and the book does not have a goal of converting people to the Wiccan faith.  Instead, the authors’ goal in writing the work is to promote religious tolerance through education, and to change the biased perspectives that some people have about Witches and Wiccans.

With so many resources explaining the Wiccan faith available on the Internet and in myriad books, why is a book like Wicca: What’s the Real Deal? necessary?  A look at recent headlines in the news reveals that there are still so many misunderstandings about Wicca and Witchcraft, and that many pagans endure prejudicial treatment because they practice an alternative religion.  The authors hope to reach out to the community, to explain Wiccan beliefs, and to diminish some of the stereotypes, labeling, and prejudicial treatment that pagans experience; from on-the-job discrimination to discriminatory treatment in social situations, Wiccans are still dealing with the baneful effects associated with religious intolerance.

The first two chapters of the book are written in a myth/truth format, and the remaining two sections of the book explore Wiccan tenets, holidays, religious symbolism, the advantages and disadvantages of being Wiccan, and the differences between a belief in magick and the signs and symptoms associated with mental illness.  The book contains a table of contents, and index, a recommended reading list, and a glossary for easy referencing.
