Aug. 29, 2011 - PRLog -- Team TAG took 21 top leaders and partnered them up with 21 energetic kids from the Boys & Girls club, together they endeavored rock climbing walls and tight rope challenges 60 feet high. The course was a mental and trust building challenge for all parties involved. Testing the mental strength and physical strength of the leaders and the kids, each member displayed courage and support unparalleled.

The purpose of the course was to build relationships with the high school attendees of the Boys & Girls club of Venice. After their efforts on Saturday, this was certainly accomplished. This was a fun filled day where our leaders got to experience first hand the power of giving back and enhancing another person's life to challenge them to grow and make great choices. Here's what some of them had to say about their experience.

“My expectations for the ropes course were surpassed. Witnessing the leadership and trust between the kids and the leaders, as well as between leaders themselves was overwhelming and a great experience.” - Rachael Dickhute

"At first I didn't know what to expect when volunteering for the ropes course event with the Boys and Girls Club.  It was not only fun and challenging, but enlightening as well. I am most proud of my mentee, Sarah.  She was nervous about attempting the rock climbing wall but did it with me.  She didn't give up to reach the top and ring the bell.  I was nervous when I climbed to the top of the other obstacle, Leap of Faith, but I remembered how Sarah pushed through to overcome her fear and reach her goal.  I've never felt more scared nor more proud to have jumped. Even though I didn't get to hang on to the bar I'm glad I tried and more excited to try it again!" -Mani Disuanco

“I felt the ropes course was great because we stretched our comfort zone in a tangible way.  We interacted with the kids who were strangers at first and through the process became people we relied on to help us overcome obstacles and real fear.  We had fun we learned and hopefully the kids will take away great life lessons.” – Andrew Barkman

“That was an incredible experience for me! Seeing that people can conquer their fears to do what they think that they can’t do was totally inspiring ! It was definitely one of the most unforgettable moments in my life.” – Chen

“Hanging 20 feet off the ground while trying to guide and bond with a newly met friend was intense. The best feeling came when we were on the ground and hugged each other. I know that neither of us will forget that day and memories we shared. I’m glad I participated!” – Yesa Matvelieva

“Fearless!  These kids are fearless!  I feel like such a chicken up there.” – Jaime Hepp

This is one example of many, showing that living through service and giving back is true fulfillment. It can be a lot of fun to give back and there's always room for growth when you're up to challenge yourself. Great job to all who participated in making this event such a huge success!
