Volvo's S60 T6 R is a Great Sports car by Volvo - Volvo Repair Tampa by Guy's Automotive

Aug. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The Volvo S60 T6 R is to be a hot basically a S60 with a sport appearance.  This Volvo will include a high output engine, a new upgraded suspension, and many other performance. Not to mention a great new interior the R Design is remarkable and should hold up as a sports model should.

Right off the bat, the engine has much more power. The  engine is unchanged, but the computer programming obviously includes a better horsepower tuned chip. The top turbo boost is can reach 10 percent, better spark advance, and the electronic throttle has been redesigned for a  sportier response. The engine output is up to 325 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. With 354 pound-feet reached at 3,000 rpm, this must be Volvo's most best powerful  engine ever.

This R-Design 6 cylinder competes with BMW's turbo six does in the 335i, not to mention the 335is. BMW obviously delivers a better package, but this Volvo is surely a step up in the game with BMW and now Volvo has a sport package to be proud of.

The Volvo’s R-Design 0 to 60 numbers are not that impressive but definitely improved, the R-Design can get to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. This Volvo R-Design has larger twin exhaust tailpipes than the regular S60 ones. Nicer cutouts and baffling give the rear of this car a sharper look. Not to mention a rear trunk spoiler.  Other differences between the R-Design and the S60 T6 is the ride and feel. This is much improved than the standard S 60.

Check out the suspension. The suspension on the T6 R-Design is totally different than in the S60 T6, or even the T5. The 4C dynamic chassis in the T6 has been tossed out in favor of a dedicated Sport suspension that's configured for tight body control. This means tighter and firmer suspension than the best settings of the T6. Besides the suspension, these twin tube dampers have been replaced with mono-tube for shorter, better response.
Springs both in front and in back have been decreased by 15 mm, which lowers the vehicle some, and spring stiffness is 15% higher than in the T6. Rear bushings are 20% stiffer, while the front tie-blade bushing is 4X as stiff to help with excessive bouncing. Last, there's a strong strut-tower brace that might be the best difference in the suspension for the drive.

Despite the chip program of the engine, the R-Design's EPA fuel economy ratings are the same at 18 mpg city, 26 highway. This shouldn’t effect the consumer since this fuel economy is not all that bad.  

The sport suspension for the T6 R-Design also includes an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system with a torque-vectoring feature and a Corner Traction Control, which helps reduce under-steer and improves cornering, by braking the inner wheel while putting more power to the outer wheel. The downside is the R-Design's brakes. Volvo does not offer any brake upgrade yet, but hopefully they will in the future.

This Volvo with its luscious interior should be a mechanically sound model with all of the upgrades inside and out.  For a Volvo, this model is a top notch automobile and should be considered as a sports car purchase if you are looking for an European sports car in the near future.
