Aug. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Growing long, beautiful and healthy hair is not an extremely difficult process. It does not require a multitude of salon hair products, handfuls of expensive vitamins, nor any sort of sacrifice to the long hair gods. Give your hair what it needs by creating an environment that encourages your hair to be as healthy as possible by following the tips below which guarantee you grow beautiful shiny, soft, long, thick hair.

Diet

Diversify your diet. Chomping on more fruits, vegetables and foods high in fiber will not only help trim your waistline but also nourish your massive mane. Beta-carotene, commonly found in yellow and green fruits and vegetables, can help promote healthy hair and rejuvenate thinning, dull hair.

Lifestyle

Tone down your stress level; reduce smoking and the excess of caffeine, because stress can slow down the hair's growth and stops thick hair from flowing. Adopt a healthier lifestyle to keep your hair and your body calm, cool and collected.

Products

Select a shampoo designed for your hair type. Different hair types require different care to look their best. Use conditioner after the each wash and give your hair weekly a deep treatment. These treatments open your cuticles, moisturize and smooth the cuticles back into proper position. They provide a helping hand to the natural sebum you already produce. Be gentle on wet hair. You can use a towel to squeeze excess moisture from your hair but don't rub the towel on your head. Never, ever brush your hair when it is wet.

Styling

Go curly or switch to a more natural gentle look!  Avoid heat styling as often as possible, since hot air dries out your tresses and makes them susceptible to breaks and splits. If you simply can't change your style play it cool with your blow dryer. Give your mane a blast of frosty air from your blow dryer each time you finish styling. The cold air smoothes down the hair cuticle so light can reflect off it better. Always aim the blow dryer's nozzle downward over your hair to avoid roughing up the cuticle.

Styling Products

Many styling products have alcohol which can dry out your hair. Check the labels carefully before you slick anything on your hair. Many hairsprays and mousses do contain alcohol, so stick with creams or balms instead for a glossier 'do.

Environment

Protect your hair from the sun's dulling ultra-violet rays. Wear a hat or ure special styling products designed to protect against UV damage. Chlorine and salt water should also be avoided when possible and promptly washed out of hair when they cannot be.

Maintenance

See your stylist for a monthly hair revitalizing treatment. Also remember to have your hair trimmed often. Hair grows longer and strong when it is cut every six to eight weeks.
